Complete Rewind
COMPLETE Rewind, this year's show from Cirencester's Creative Dance Academy was held at the Sundial Theatre, Cirencester and starred over 200 dancers aged from two-and-a-half to 26 years. The theme was a retrospective look at the past ten years of the academy. Dance highlights from each year of the last decade as well as firm favourites such as 'Bag Dance' have been re-choreographed, updated and enlarged to suit today's very skilled cast. The senior ballet routines were visually stunning, using colour and patterning, which was especially interpretative of their music, with fast moving pointe work to modern songs or lyrical classics. Tap from the original first-ever CCDA show, Happy Feet, featured the younger members of the cast, who reflected the title clearly on their faces. Costumes, as always, were amazing, Nicki Selwyn and her band of helpers still improve year on year. As usual Andy Webb's lighting design gave the finishing touches to a truly spectacular experience. Over the past years, The CCDA has amassed a reputation for the excellent standard of its annual show, bordering on the professional, and this year the whole production took the audience to a new level of enjoyment. The charity supported this year by the raffle was Minchinhampton hospice. All other monies raised are being used to set up 'The Alix Mills Memorial Scholarship - this is a vocational bursary to be administered by an independent committee to help young performers in professional training. CCDA will be holding a Halloween social event October 20 to raise funds for this scholarship; tickets from Ryan Dix Studios in the Wool Market, Cirencester, 01285 659949. For further information on classes and next year's show contact Katherine on 07730 497023 or _ visit CCDA.
